FUTILE FANTASY I: THE LEGEND OF LEFIAT

"SOME KNIGHTS WERE BORN FOR LOVE, SOME WERE BORN TO UNITE THE PEOPLES AND OTHERS WERE BORN TO FIGHT FOR THE COMMON GOOD. 

IN THE KINGDOM OF GUEVINA, A YOUNG MAN NAMED LEFIAT WAS NO EXCEPTION.

HE WAS BORN TOO."

 

THE STORY OF A YOUNG MAN'S DREAM TO BE A KNIGHT.  SINCE CHILDHOOD, LEFIAT HAS DREAMT OF FIGHTING BEASTS AND RESCUING DAMSELS IN DISTRESS.  SPENDING ALL HIS TIME PRACTICING HIS SKILLS WITH A SWORD MADE FROM OLD WOODEN SPOONS, HE'S NEVER EVEN CONSIDERED ANOTHER PROFESSION.  THE PURSUIT OF HIS DREAM IS HIS ONLY ENDEAVOUR.

UNFORTUNATELY FOR LEFIAT, HE DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE REALISED A FEW MINOR DETAILS.  TO BE A KNIGHT REQUIRES SKILL, MIGHT AND INTELLIGENCE.  THREE THINGS HE LACKS IN ABUNDANCE.  UNDETERRED, HE CONTINUES IN PURSUIT OF HIS SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE DREAM.  HE COULD NEVER BE A KNIGHT...COULD HE?

DURING A ROYAL VISIT TO HIS AREA OF THE CITY, THE KING ALIGHTS HIS COACH TO GREET THE PEOPLE.  IN THE ENSUING SURGE, THE HAPLESS LEFIAT FALLS ON THE KING.  HIS ONLY FRIEND RUNS, FEARING LEFIAT WILL BE BEHEADED.  HE WAS WRONG.  THE KING MISTAKENLY THINKS HE BRAVELY JUMPED ON HIM TO SAVE HIM FROM A FALLING TREE BRANCH.  AS A REWARD HE TAKES HIM BACK TO THE CASTLE AND OFFERS HIM A REWARD.  AND SO IT BEGINS.

LEFIAT IS NOW THE APPRENTICE OF THE MIGHTY SIR FLAXLEY OF TIFAERIS, A KNIGHT KNOWN THE WORLD OVER FOR HIS POWER AND SKILL WITH THE SWORD.  FOLLOWING A BRIEF PERIOD OF TRAINING WHERE LEFIAT SETS NEW LEVELS OF INCOMPETENCE IN ALL ASPECTS OF BEING A KNIGHT, HE IS GIVEN A FINAL TEST.  HE MUST ACCOMPANY SIR FLAXLEY ON A SIMPLE MISSION TO HIDE A POWERFUL KEY WHERE MAN CAN NEVER REACH IT.  UNDER THE GUISE OF A ROYAL TRIP, THEY MUST HEAD FOR THE KJATA CAVES AND DEPOSIT THE KEY IN THE SAFETY OF A BEASTS LAIR WHERE NO MAN WOULD BE STUPID ENOUGH TO LOOK.   AND SO, THEY SET OFF WITH THE ROYAL BUTLER AND THE KINGS ONLY CHILD, PRINCESS MANDIKA IN TOW.  ALL LEFIAT HAS TO DO IS TRAVEL WITH THE PARTY.  HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO DO THE SLIGHTLY DANGEROUS BIT.  NOTHING CAN GO WRONG...CAN IT?

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE LEFIAT'S INEPTITUDE.  A MIX UP WITH SADDLE BAGS ACCOMPANIED BY LEFIAT'S GENERAL USELESSNESS RESULTS IN THE KEY FALLING INTO THE HANDS OF TWO EVIL WITCHES.  THE WORLD WILL BE IN MORTAL DANGER IF THEY DON'T GET IT BACK BEFORE THE WITCHES CAN CLEANSE IT OF PURITY AND USE IT TO DO THEIR EVIL BIDDING. 

THEY HAVE FIVE DAYS TO SEARCH FOR THE WITCHES LAIR AND RETRIEVE THE KEY.  FIVE DAYS FOR LEFIAT TO REDEEM HIMSELF AND HELP SAVE THE WORLD FROM THE ALMIGHTY MESS HE LEFT IT IN.
